Own-recorded terrestrial AIS, refreshed continuously. No API key required.
vessel_status	Track the live status of a ship by name (partial ok) or MMSI: current position, physical state (underway / anchored / moored — detected from movement physics, not the crew-set flag), gateway zone, terminal if berthed, speed and declared destination, at US container gateways. No API key required.
has_vessel_berthed	Check whether a ship has physically berthed (moored) at a US container gateway within a lookback window — arrival truth independent of carrier milestone codes. Returns each berthing event with timestamps and terminal when known. No API key required.
recent_events	List recent observed vessel events at US container gateways — arrivals, anchorings, berthings, departures (ZONE_ENTER/LEAVE, ANCHOR_START/END, BERTH_START/END, DEPARTED) — with timestamps, from own-recorded live AIS. No API key required.
list_instruments	List every Trimtab US Trade Ledger instrument and data series: US Census port-level trade (imports and exports by US port, partner country, commodity), live AIS vessel observation, ETA reliability. Each series carries a provenance grade (observed / reported / modelled) and its trust state. Start here. No API key required.
describe_series	Describe one data series in full: what it measures, unit, source and method, citation string, temporal coverage, and current trust state. Series span US port trade (Census-recorded) and ship observations (AIS). No API key required.
query_series	Fetch the data of a series — monthly US port trade by country and commodity, vessel events, ETA reliability — as periods and values. Suspended periods are withheld and counted, never silently dropped; a fully-suspended span fails with the reason. Free, CC BY 4.0. No API key required.
check_agreement	Compare independent instruments against each other — US Census customs records vs live AIS observation of the same gateways. Where they disagree, one is wrong. Returns the recorded checks touching a series, their latest results, and any resulting suspension. No API key required.
search_series	Search all US trade and shipping series by plain-language terms (e.g. "imports from india", "houston", "vessel arrivals") across names, descriptions, instruments and units. No API key required.
